If you build, test, or lead software quality work in Northern Ohio, this site is for you. We are the Northern Ohio Software Quality Collaborative, a regional professional community for QA engineers, test architects, SDETs, DevOps practitioners, and quality leaders across Cleveland, Akron, Youngstown, and everywhere in between. This is our first post. We wanted to say hello, explain what we are building, and lay out why.
What NOSQC Is
NOSQC is a place for the people who make software work correctly. That means monthly meetups, some virtual and some in person, technical presentations from practitioners who are actually shipping the work, informal networking, career resources, and honest discussion about the state of quality engineering in our region.
We are not a sales channel. Presentations focus on practice, not products. Speakers can talk about the tools they use, but the goal is knowledge transfer, not lead generation. We are not a certification body. We do not pretend to speak for every QA professional in Ohio. We are a working community, run by working practitioners, meant to make everyone in it better at their craft.
Why We Are Doing This
Northern Ohio has an enormous software footprint that does not get talked about the way it should. The region’s healthcare systems run some of the most complex medical software in the country. Regional financial institutions handle serious fintech workloads. The automotive corridor across Ohio and Michigan is home to safety-critical and software-defined vehicle work that touches every driver on the road. Aerospace, defense, and industrial automation are all here too. All of that software has to be tested, verified, and shipped with care. The quality engineers doing that work often operate in isolation inside their organizations.
Online communities exist, but most are too big, too generic, or too centered on frameworks that miss the realities of regulated, safety-critical, or long-lifecycle software. Regional communities in Boston, Austin, and the Bay Area have thrived for years. We think Northern Ohio is overdue.
We want a place where an SDET at a hospital system can compare notes with a firmware verification lead from an automotive supplier. Where a QA manager at a mid-size shop can hear how a peer at a bigger company solved a problem they are facing next quarter. Where a college student in a software engineering program can meet the practitioners they want to become. That is the community we are building.
What Happens Next
We are getting the first events on the calendar. If you want to speak, host, sponsor a venue, or just show up, get in touch. Join the LinkedIn group linked from the top of the site. Watch the events page. Send us a message through the contact form.
If you are a quality professional in Northern Ohio, you have a home here now.
